This item is tested and working with and without an iPod inserted. It does not include a remote.
There is an issue with the volume dial where it does not properly raise or lower the volume. I needed to spin the dial back and forth multiple times and in different directions to get it to properly lower or raise the volume.
There is also a stain on the left speaker grille (see pictures)
