This is an original GM Delco under dash 8 track player for approx 68-72 Oldsmobiles. The part number corresponds to a 1970 B body but has other applications. Please check and verify your part number needed before bidding.
I have had this unit for many years as I had attempted to acquire a complete unit for an Olds project.
The playing unit is extremely clean for its age and comes with a silvery gold Under-dash case.
These cases are very fragile and under built for the 10lb tape player. Most of them you see for sale have the sides cracked off and this one was just like that. It has been glued back in three spots as I managed to find one where the pieces were still present. It has a mint faceplate which was the attraction for me purchasing it. If you were to re-spray it to match your interior color the cracks would become very minor.

I created a bench jig to try it out. The tape runs at correct speed and plays clearly. I got the right speaker wired to it but was unable to figure out the correct wiring with no detailed schematic to get sound from the left. Not sure if the system requires the main radio unit to function since they are highly interconnected. The tape programs change however the solenoid is sticky. It changes one track then has to sit for 30 seconds to change again. I see what needs lubricating but don’t want to put an incorrect product on it. The pilot light functions and can be seen in the video.
It should be serviced by a professional but unlike many untested units this one is no basket case.
It is also cosmetically in great clean shape. Outstanding for its age.
The hardware shown is what you get. 4 knobs and associated washers but there is no other mounts or brackets included. The player is just sitting in the case but needs attaching hardware.
It looks like the complete items to mount the case to the dash are there.
All wires and connectors are present for a factory correct installation.
Sold As-Is. Expect it needs a tune up from a service center. Offered at a very reasonable price for its condition. Thanks for looking.
