Offered is the Magnavox Collaro Record Changer. This one is from the 292C or 272C console Hi Fi. The changer is clean overall, with some rust around and beneath the platter-visible in the photos. I can find no model number on the changer itself. The tonearm and record holder are in good condition. The START/Stop/Reject control rotates properly and looks good. The speed control is frozen-its knob and lever look good. The top of the changer is clean with a little rust and a few scratches, but overall, it looks good. The Magnavox/Collaro badge looks good. The cartridge is a SONOTONE twin stylii model with a flip feature-both stylii look good, as does the cartridge itself. The headshell slides on and off properly. The center spindle is clean. The tonearm holder and locking clamp are also in good condition. The motor is nearly frozen. I made no attempt to power it up. The gears, parts and linkages do not move freely. There is very little rust on the parts. Some old hardened grease remains, but otherwise, it is clean below. One red power wire is loose. The coax conductor for amplifier hookup is in place-it is a little frayed. The top surface beneath the platter shows some rust, but the black idler wheels as well as the bearing at the center look good. There is one tiny spring beneath the platter broken-I cannot determine where it was once hooked up-it is visible in the photos. These well-made changers were used on many 1950's Magnavox Hi Fi consoles. Pick up this one for its wealth of parts or for restoration. Offered strictly "as is" for parts or restoration-no returns on this one, please. About 17 pounds well packed in an oversize box. Mouse over photo images to zoom in. I am open to robust offers on this changer. NO RESERVE!! Thanks for looking.
